NLP for Weight Loss - Better Thinking for Faster Weight Loss!

, , No Comments

As an NLP consultant, I recommend NLP tools / techniques to anyone who wants to achieve an ideal shape, weight loss and toning. One tool in particular is this - first, think about this deeply before starting out! If your mind is not clear about what you want to achieve (the outcome), then you may be doomed to failure even before you begin.

In NLP, there are so many tools and techniques which are powerfully effective in helping people to be determined, and exude high mental power. I highly recommend you to look into this approach first before you set out on your change pathways. There are several steps that are advantageous to consider when you start out on your path.

1. Planning: Think deeply about what you really, really, really, really want!

Sit down with a pen and some paper and really think about what you want. If you want to achieve your ideal shape, then visualise what you will look like, the clothes you will be wearing, your shape/toning and your new situation. You should visualise this target state every day, in order to keep your mind and body on track to achieve this.

2. Reasons: Write out all the benefits you will accrue by achieving your ideal state

If you don't know WHY you're setting out on an improvement path - you won't think it important to strive for the outcome! This is an important preparation step before you begin. It is very important for you to be aware of all these benefits that you will get when you achieve your ideal state. Knowing these benefits in advance, will help you to keep high motivation. This will keep you going through every day/week/month, whilst you are moving to this state.

For instance, it could be that you will be so much fitter in the future that you will be able to do more exercise that you enjoy such as cycling, walking, running, playing with the children/grandchildren etc. Perhaps it may be a general improvement in your health and fitness and overcoming some current illness.

3. Written plan: Make a plan of activity to achieve your outcome

his is vital - you must make a plan which helps you to MAP OUT and achieve your weekly/monthly interim targets. These are STEPPING STONES along the path to your ideal shape. You should aim to include in this plan, the type/amount of foodstuffs and drink/water that you will be aiming to consume to help you in your weight loss plan.

The plan should also include some form of exercise that you are capable of doing. The exercise should be something that you can enjoy doing, as well as helping you to quietly stretch your limits. Consult your doctor for advice and help in your quest. Your plan should also include a monitoring or evaluating facility, so that you know that you are on track every week/month.

4. Expert Help: Enlist the help of diet professionals, exercise specialists and other resources

It is important that you get a healthy eating blueprint and exercise regime that is personally tailored to suit/fit you. This will ensure that you get the right foodstuffs and are exercising at the appropriate time/regularity. By taking the best advice you can get, your preparation will be assured.

5. Prepare the Mind to Win: Intention and positive thinking

You must prepare yourself mind-wise to be in the best state possible. You must keep in mind your goals and the benefits you will get from achieving the goals. This will help you to stay motivated on your pathway. When your mind and your intention are very clear and fixed on what you want, you will find it easier to do all the tasks/things necessary to help you achieve your state.

6. Success is a Pattern: Models and modelling

Look around in the popular press, TV and other sources for someone who has already achieved what you want to achieve. Read about how they overcame their challenges, how they prepared for and undertook these challenges - and more importantly, how they got what they set out to achieve! These kinds of life stories will help you to realise that other people have the same kind of challenges, and yet they achieved their goals. If they can do it - you can do it!
